The Futility of Fame and Fortune

Image
"Where do I put my hope? … in you.’ Psalm 39:7 Society’s fascination with Hollywood and celebrities has gone a little crazy. Millions idolise those who have achieved fame and fortune, yet stardom does not provide the satisfaction it advertises.  Marilyn Monroe could have told us that. So could Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson.

The Race..

The Big Ten

Just like we mentioned earlier, we will be featuring articles from guest bloggers which we believe will add to our spiritual growth. This is one of them from  Selys Rivera . If there’s one thing that gets taught over and over again in Sunday school, it’s the Ten Commandments. Sure, they’re easy to memorize, but sometimes it’s difficult to really understand what they mean. Over the years, I’ve had to look into each commandment on my own to figure out what they truly mean.

Check out this great musical dance clip which sends chills down my spine any time I watch it. It is like a mirror of the daily struggles of a christian youth and the awesome part Christ Jesus plays in it. Enjoy and lets see/ read your reactions. Watch clip after the cut....

Go Fever Read:  Numbers 14:39-45 Be still before the  Lord  and wait patiently for him. Psalm 37:7 On January 28, 1986, after five weather-related delays, Challenger  lumbered heavenward amid a thunderous overture of noise and flame. A mere 73 seconds later, system failure tore the shuttle apart, and all seven crewmembers perished. the space shuttle The disaster was attributed to an O-ring seal known to have vulnerabilities. Insiders referred to the fatal mistake as “go fever”—the tendency to ignore vital precautions in the rush to a grand goal. Our ambitious human nature relentlessly tempts us to make ill-advised choices. Yet we are also prone to a fear that can make us overly cautious.

Be Still and Know that I am the Lord

We've all had our moments of pain, sorrow, disappointments and even depression.                         A couple of years back, I was speaking to a friend going through tough times, was at the verge of giving up and throwing in the towel. It was difficult to believe. Few months later I understood the saying that" Words are cheap"   because I plunged into mine head long. Trust me, It was far from being funny. I felt deserted, lonely and confused.

The Forward Look Read:  Luke 2:21-35 Simeon . . . was righteous and devout . . . and the Holy Spirit was on him. Luke 2:25 When the great Dutch painter Rembrandt died unexpectedly at age 63, an unfinished painting was found on his easel.  It focuses on Simeon’s emotion in holding the baby Jesus when He was brought to the temple in Jerusalem, 40 days after His birth. Yet the background and normal detail remain unfinished.
