Image
I am of God’s race Called out of darkness, Called into light Called out of small Called into big Called out of evil, Called into good

Can I forgive?

Image
I try to shy away from writing about forgiveness, but it is really important now than ever. I have found out that unforgiveness is deadlier and destroys relationships faster than Zika, Ebola or HIV.

What have I gained

Image
My stomach with earthly food I feasted My mind and brain I nurtured with mental meal But my soul…I starved Meats I did chow together with kings Finest of wine I gulped with queens But failed to dine with Him at His table

End of the Beginning by David Phelps

Still in the spirit of Easter, here is a song that encapsulates the Gospels... I hope you love it as much as I do. You'll find the lyrics after the cut.

Healing Your Emotional Wounds

Image
God asks His people, ‘Why do you cry out over your wound, your pain that has no cure?’ Then He answers, ‘But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds’ (v. 17 NIV 2011 Edition).  If there’s anything more insidious than the rage, frustration, and other negative things that come out of us and wreck our relationships, it’s the inner source from which they originate.  Festering wounds from past relationships are dangerous wounds. You say, ‘But you don’t know how badly this person hurt me’.

Prayer

Image
These quotes on prayer are guaranteed to get you praying. The greatest thing anyone can do for God or man is pray." - S.D. Gordon "Prayer is where the action is." - John Wesley "Satan does not care how many people read about prayer if only he can keep them from praying." - Paul E. Billheimer

Impact Reader: Should I go ahead and date him...He is really a struggling Christian

Image
Hi guys, Remember we came up with this blog to form a community of christian youths who will be there for each other , admonish, advise, pray and uphold each other. So , someone asked this question, though we have an answer but we really , really do need your contribution now. Over the years, I have been friends with a coursemate of mine. He is someone girls can classify as nice, caring and compassionate. To add icing to the cake, he is a christian.

Is it Well with Your Soul?

Image
If you died today would you go to heaven? Before you answer, read this story.  In 1871 fire ravaged the city of Chicago, leaving three hundred people dead and a hundred thousand homeless.  Attorney Horatio Gates Spafford, a friend of D.L. Moody, helped its people get back on their feet.

What to Do in a Crisis (2)

Image
Don’t discard what’s important! Things didn’t get any better on the apostle Paul’s voyage to Rome. ‘We took such a violent battering from the storm that the next day they began to throw the cargo overboard. On the third day, they threw the ship’s tackle overboard’ (vv. 18-19 NIV 2011 Edition).  Note the things they discarded:

What to Do in a Crisis (1)

Image
‘We gave way to it and were driven along.’ Acts 27:15 Don’t drift. Typically we react to a crisis in the same three ways as the sailors on board Paul’s ship: ‘The ship was caught by the storm and could not head into the wind; so we gave way to it and were driven along..’

Matt Redman - 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)

Chorus: Bless the Lord oh my soul Oh my soul Worship His Holy name Sing like never before Oh my soul I'll worship Your Holy name

New day, New Beginning

Image
Have you ever woken up with a sore feeling that your head is about to explode? I've come to realise over the years that my unhappy days were caused by the thoughts I entertained. Thoughts (sometimes unimportant) that I gave room to, influenced my mood. I was haunted by things, mostly those I do not have a direct control over, that I had invested my emotions on. I let them clog my head and mess up a beautiful day that the Lord has blessed me with.

HEY THERE, WORRY LESS

Image
We're continually tempted to think, brainstorm and analyze every of our shortcomings and failures but God is speaking to you today. He says, PRAY MORE, WORRY LESS. Wouldn't you just obey the King of glory? Source: Charlene

What to do when you hava a Tyre blowout

Image
This is from a guest Blogger. Please  read and share your thoughts with us. In the event of the unfortunate death of Nigeria’s Minister of State for Labour due to an accident occasioned by tyre blowout and the fact that Nigerian Drivers do not go through driving school, it has become pertinent for me to write this. There are 6 simple steps to take within a maximum of 2 minutes and you will be safe, these by the grace of God I have been familiar with for decades. They are as follows: 1) DON’T PANIC in the event of a blowout, calm yourself down fast and PRAY IN YOUR MIND because your car will start misbehaving and you need to take charge.

Understand Your Child’s Uniqueness (1)

Image
‘In keeping with his individual gift or bent.’ Proverbs 22:6 As a parent you either accelerate or stifle your child’s giftedness. The Bible says, ‘Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it’ (v. 6 KJV). That doesn’t mean when you set your kids on the right path they’ll never leave it. No, salvation is the work of God (see 1 Corinthians 3:6). So what does this Scripture mean?

Song of the Day

Image
How Can It Be - Lauren Daigle Lyrics I am guilty Ashamed of what I've done, what I've become These hands are dirty I dare not lift them up to the Holy One You plead my cause, you right my wrongs You break my chains, you overcome You gave your life, to give me mine You say that I am free How can it be? Yeah How can it be? Yeah

Outrageous; God Will forgive and Restore you (The Remix)

Image
‘Father, I have sinned.’ Luke 15:18 The Prodigal Son’s story begins like this: ‘There was a man who had two sons. The younger one said to his father, “Father, give me my share of the estate.” So he divided his property between them. Not long after … the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and … squandered his wealth in wild living’ (vv. 11-13 NIV 2011 Edition). This young man’s sin was bad, really bad!  In a Middle Eastern patriarchal society the disrespect he demonstrated towards his father is beyond what most of us can relate to.

...But the greatest of these is Love

Image
When I was in primary school, we read a story about a little girl, who never liked to share her things with anybody, her friends and family inclusive.  Whenever somebody touched anything she owns, she cried out, "it's mine, its mine", while every other person gladly let her share in what they have. One day, they all got tired of her attitude and decided to teach her a lesson. They agreed not to share their belongings with her, whenever she touched anything belonging to any one of them, they told her, ‘it’s mine, don't touch it". She cried so hard that day, thankfully she learnt her lesson.

Put on a Smiling Face

Remember that God always wants his children happy. So, don't let anything get to you. Smile, God has got your problem taken care of.  Source: Charlene

Don’t Quarrel, and Avoid People Who Do

Image
‘The Lord’s servant must not quarrel.’ 2 Timothy 2:24 Let’s consider why some people are given to quarrelling: 1) They grew up in homes where it was a pattern so they think it’s normal. It may be normal, but it’s certainly not Christ-like. The Bible says, ‘Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor; only fools insist on quarreling’ (Proverbs 20:3 NLT).

Lyrics for the Day!

Image
Looking up the lonely height, shivering in the dark, hiding from the truth, cover up the prove Demons that I've tried to hide, imprison me in my own lies and all that I can do is cover up the prove. Dont be afriad to stand up....

Before You Date Someone

Image
‘Listen for God’s voice … he’s the one who will keep you on track.’ Proverbs 3:6 Before you date somebody, ask yourself: 1) Am I free to be who I am? Paul writes, ‘Let’s just go ahead and be what we were made to be’ (Romans 12:6 MSG). If you have to reinvent yourself to keep somebody happy, you’re in the wrong relationship. If they disapprove of you now, do you seriously think marriage will improve things? Not a chance!

Worry Is a Waste of Time

Image
‘Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.’ Philippians 4:6 Worry is one of the most ineffective pastimes we can indulge in. Jesus Himself asked, ‘Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?’ (Matthew 6:27 NLT). Worry is the assassin of rest and relationships. It stalks us and hijacks our minds.

FROM MESS TO BEAUTIFUL MESSAGE

Image
At some point in our life, things don't go the way we want or the way we expect it to and we can't help but exclaim. "Oh Lord, what a mess my life is? " Shhh, don't say such. God is thinking about you. He can turn your mess into a beautiful message.  Cheer up!

Jesus Hears Your Cry

Image
TODAY'S WORD FOR TODAY Jesus Hears Your Cry ‘He is able … to run to the cry of … those who are being … tested.’ Hebrews 2:18 Are you facing a home repossession? Jesus didn’t have a place to lay His head. Has someone taken advantage of you? Jesus lived among slaves and paid taxes to a foreign emperor.

Who is the Lion of the Tribe of Judah

Image
Lions are known to incredibly love relaxation and lazing about. They spend between 16 and 20 hours each day resting and sleeping, rolling on their back in low – lying bush, rubbing their faces on branches and seemingly combing their magnificent mane.   I have always wondered how this animal could be the KING of all animals, the fiercest and STRONGEST of them all, even the big Elephant!

Know Your Child's Friends

Image
‘Those who lead good people along an evil path.’ Proverbs 28:10 One Christian author writes: ‘I once saw a documentary film that featured a packing house where sheep were slaughtered. Huddled in pens were hundreds of nervous animals that seemed to sense danger. A gate was opened leading to a ramp, and through a door to the right. In order to get the sheep to walk up that ramp the workers used what is known as a “Judas goat.”

Say only what you know: Amebo is not a Christian’s Destiny!

Image
Amebo is sweet. It is like real life Africa Magic. It’s the rationale behind the popularity of “reality TV”.  Naturally, human beings like stories of whatever kind. People like to listen to and carry jist. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with jisting. Jisting, in itself, is not a sin.  But as humans, we have a tendency to embellish and exaggerate.  When we hear something, the creative nature of our brains paint a picture of how the scenario must have looked.   Then jara comes in. After all, it’s not really a lie. This is where we need to be careful. When we start adding jara to what we have heard and spreading that jara, especially when it involves people, “jist don turn to amebo”. It is very easy for jara to turn to malicious gossip.

The Grace Experience

Image
We carry Grace The Great Grace The Abundant Grace The Manifold Grace The Exceeding Grace All Grace abounds towards us What more can we ask for? It can only get better! Being in the presence of God singing His praise, basking in the warmth of his love, bowing and lifting hands in worship is what we can never get tired of. Such was the experience during the special 4 Sundays in the month of February.

Take Another Look (2)

Image
TODAY'S WORD FOR TODAY Take Another Look (2) ‘Do you look at things according to the outward appearance?’ 2 Corinthians 10:7 Paul makes it clear that there are qualities we haven’t yet discovered or discerned in some of the people around us. Most of our conclusions are based on limited and often flawed information. God saw qualities in David his own family didn’t recognise. To them he was just a shepherd boy. In fact, when he showed up at the battlefront and offered to fight Goliath, his oldest brother, Eliab, told him to go home and mind his own business.
