Is it you?

Image
‘Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, “Surely not I, Rabbi?”’ Matthew 26:25 In a sermon about commitment to Christ, the great preacher Charles Spurgeon said: ‘I’ve known some who preached the gospel with power, but lived to depart from it altogether.  I’ve known others who discharged the duties of deaconship and eldership with considerable diligence, who have afterwards given way to their evil passions. I’ve thought some of them to be the holiest of men.  While they’ve been praying I’ve been lifted up to the very gates of heaven; if anyone had said these would one day fall into gross sin, I wouldn’t have believed it. I’d sooner have believed it of myself. Those who seemed stronger than we have fallen, so why not we?

The Elephants' Rope

Image
As a man was passing the elephants, he suddenly stopped, confused by the fact that these huge creatures were being held by only a small rope tied to their front leg. No chains, no cages. It was obvious that the elephants could, at any time, break away from their bonds but for some reason, they did not.

Not my will.....

Image
I recently had a chat with a friend who was having a hard time.Though she believes in God's supremacy over her life, she just couldn't bring herself to ask for His Will in her life. "That is the scariest prayer ever", She said.  What if God gives me someone I don't have a thing for as a husband? Would I obey?

The Staying Power

Image
Staying power overcomes misunderstanding and rejection. Sometimes the people you count on to support you will actually try to undercut you.  When God gives you a vision too big for them to handle, they’ll say, ‘You’re getting too big for your boots,’ and then try to cut you down to size - their size! Joseph’s brothers sold him into slavery, then went home and told their father he’d been killed by a wild beast.  Can you imagine how Joseph felt when someone asked, ‘Tell me about your family’?

Redeeming the time

Image
I want to talk to you today about redeeming the time. Time is one of the most valuable commodities that we have. It’s more valuable than money.  You can make more money but you can’t make more time. Queen Elizabeth on her sick bed said “I will give my entire kingdom for just one more day”. When you woke up this morning, God gave you a present, it is called today. With that gist comes a responsibility.  The scripture tells us to “Redeem the time” That simply means, don’t let it go to waste. Don’t live this day unfocused, unhappy, negative, and defeated. Make the most of each day. Things may not be perfect. You may have some obstacles but you can never get it back. If you will learn to see each day as a gift, you will live more intentional. You will realize that when you spend your time, you are spending your life. You can either invest it, or you can waste it.

Quote for today

Tough times doesnt last....Tough people do

“Times are hard,” “times are hard” is the anthem on the lips of most Nigerians. The prices of commodities have skyrocketed. Everyone is adjusting his/her lifestyle and many businesses are closed down until further notice. Food has now become a prized and scarce commodity. Crime is on the rise and unheard cases of suicide is becoming the order of the day. People are just tired. You can then imagine my pain upon seeing a nursing mother begging under the rain & late at night. Guess how much? Just N50 or food from the food vendor across the road! The worst is that most of the people she is begging from only have the option of trekking home famished and cashless.  My heart bleeds for my country. On a daily bases, one meets frustrated people roaming the street waiting for who to pounce on. Funny enough, only a punch sends them to an early grave and the culprit to Kirikiri prison.

A Push From Heaven

Image
Racing down life’s tracks     I’m never far from his presence     Walking through the forest of upheavals     His eyes are forever on me     Even when envious powers try to beat down my speed    The Lord’s burning fire crushes down their deed    As an eagle soars high, so has the Lord made me fly    As the cheetah runneth, so has the Lord made me prosper    In all my endeavors has the Lord given me speed

Divine Guidance

Image
Throughout Scripture God talked to ordinary people, and He’ll talk to you too!    He told Abraham when to leave home (see Genesis 12:1), and Jacob when to go back home (see Genesis 31:3). He told Elijah where to find food in the middle of a famine (see 1 Kings 17:1-5).    On two different occasions He stopped Paul from walking through what appeared to be a door of opportunity because He had something better in mind for him.
