Not my will.....
I recently had a chat with a friend who was having a hard time.Though she believes in God's supremacy over her life, she just couldn't bring herself to ask for His Will in her life.
"That is the scariest prayer ever", She said.
What if God gives me someone I don't have a thing for as a husband? Would I obey?
I then decided to put down my opinion on God's Will. A will is just a desire, plan, purpose or intention that has been achieved or hope to be achieved in the future, Am sure Our creator has put in everyone the innate ability to choose, imagine, desire and even accomplish set goals, yet for every believer, God has greater plans and purpose for our lives, regardless of what our will is.
But prophet Jeremiah (Jeremiah29 :11) explained through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit that God's plans are for our very best because he loves us more than we can ever imagine...." I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future".
God categorically said that " before He formed us in our mother's womb He knew us, before we were born He has set us apart; He appointed us a prophet (Chosen people, priests ) to the nations".(Jeremiah 1:5)
I made her understand that anybody God approves as her husband, is indeed the best choice. Though she might not see it immediately, but with time those unique qualities will definitely surface. God sees the heart of men but we human sees only the physical
God's will for our lives can be accessed through his word. As we respond to it, only then can we fully access the covenant rights and benefits.
Precious saints, In as much as we have our desires and will, I believe that we should still allow God to take control. I have noticed that He(God) is a Typical Gentleman. He will not force you to do his will, rather subtly instruct you to , for your own good...He is that "still small voice", some call it the "voice of reason", "Instinct", "Conscience" et al. It all boils down to Gods way of directing our path...." You will hear a voice saying, Follow this path"
But if you insist and go your way, you might likely meet some hoodlums on the way. The experience I must assure you can be really painful ...Take it from someone who has been there"There is a way which seemeth right in the sight of a man, but its end thereof is damnation. (Though God, is ever ready to take us back when we truly repent and call for His help)
It is therefore not advisable to struggle with our maker. In accessing the will of God, all you need is to believe his word - The Bible, Have faith and constantly return his words to him(Learn to pray the Word). He promised that "the expectations of the righteous will never be cut short" So cling to it". Learn to conclude your prayers with that sentence " Thy will be done not mine" like our Lord Jesus Christ taught us.
With this mindset , even if your request doesn't end up as you expected, you will be rest assured that it is His will and He is faithful that promised. God's love for us is immeasureable, never doubt it especially in the dark times of life. It is only the love of God that can make us rich and add no sorry to his riches for all mankind.
This is just my opinion on this...I will be glad to get more insight from you...
