Sex, Drugs & The Holy Spirit

"This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh". – Galatians 5:16
If there are any 2 major struggles Christians of our time face, they are sexual lust and drug/alcohol misuse.
These sins have so pervaded the church that many have concluded that they cannot be jettisoned. Some have even gone the length of saying that these struggles are an inseparable part of the Christian journey.

My precious friend, however -the Holy Spirit- showed me how He is more than capable of matching these pleasures and passions like for like: ungodly sex – with actual spiritual intercourse and getting high – with godly intoxication. Watch the Holy Spirit make His case with 2 key scriptures.

Sex
As humans, one of the most intense and most pleasurable feeling we can experience in the flesh is sex. In the pursuit of this pleasure, many have given over their lives to immorality, and that at the expense of their body and souls.
But for us Christians, we Single ones especially, we must realize that the peak of satisfaction can only be found in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is so passionate about this that he even juxtaposes sex and all it offers with spiritual intercourse with Him. He says:
"Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in the body? For it is said, “The two will become one flesh. But whoever is united with the Lord is one with Him in spirit." – 1 Corinthians 6:16-17 NIV
Yes, we can be united with the Holy Spirit the way a man is united with a woman. It is no coincidence that the Scripture places these verses side by side. The Holy Spirit is begging for such an intimacy with us, one where we lust after Him and all that He is. A place of spiritual intercourse, a coming together with Him inside of us, and us inside Him.

Anytime I find myself lusting and desiring after things that I shouldn’t, that’s my indicator that I’m low on spiritual intimacy. It’s in these sort of times the devil makes his move. If you would run to the Lord and spend quality time with Him you would realize He is the one you have needed all along.

Have you ever been in the middle of a great time with the Holy Spirit? At that point there is absolutely no desire for any physical pleasure, the Holy Spirit is enough!

Why? “The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants…the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then, you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves – Galatians 5:17,16.

People, the Holy Spirit is begging for such a deep relationship with us as to match the pleasures of an actual physical relationship.

We are barely scratching the surface, the depths we can get to with this God, are indescribable. Are you single? Seek to develop such a relationship with this sweet Spirit where you are fully satisfied with Him. Are you married? It’s not too late to do the same.

Remember, there is no sex in heaven, there will be something much more intensely pleasurable than that. But you don’t have to get to heaven to experience that, eternal life starts now! [John 17:3]
There’s more to sex than mere skin on skin. Sex is as much spiritual mystery as physical fact. As written in Scripture, “The two became one.”…we want to become spiritually one with the Master – 1 Corinthians 6:16-17 MSG

Drugs and Alcohol
"Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit". – Ephesians 5:18 NLT
Here, you have the Holy Spirit saying I know you think getting high is enjoyable, but I can offer you so much more. Again, the inordinate desire for these things is only as a result of our emptiness in God. You really don’t need to weed and do drugs, you need to be filled with the Holy Spirit!
For those of us that have ever drunk wine, we know of the happiness, bravado, incomprehensible speech and staggering it can cause.

In like manner, being filled with the Spirit gives us joy, boldness, incomprehensible tongues, and sometimes even staggering. Just as you can’t hide being drunk, when He really hits you, you can’t hide being filled with the Holy Ghost. Remember when the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost?

They were mistaken for drunk men! Such are the workings of the Spirit if we let Him.
The Holy Spirit is calling us to something deeper. An in filling so abundant that we need no wine or drugs, a total inebriation in the Holy Ghost, a perpetually pleasurable existence.
He is even calling us into an intimacy greater than sex!

There’s more to this Holy Spirit than we hear about. Make it your duty to discover Him. You need nothing else.
Let the Holy Spirit show you real intercourse, let Him show you what it really feels like to feel good. He is the source of all joy and pleasures.

Please taste, and see that this Holy Spirit is good.
