The Way Out

Suicide is the only true philosophical question because the question of "why" can never be fully explained and understood.  And Adebisi's case was no different. He was a final year student at the University of Ibadan. A fine and brilliant young man with a promising future he was.  Adebisi Was the sort of person who seemed to have everything going well for him. Talk about loving parents who were overly successful, good grades in school, and a beautiful girlfriend who loved him unconditionally. He and Morenike were going to get married after school.  In short, he was a person loved by all. But he died!  Adebisi died!

It was not as if death came knocking at his door, no.  He himself went to pay death a visit and the doors were wide open for him to enter.  But why would Adebisi take his own life? Why would our friend willfully choose to walk through the gates of death? "Why" was an unending question in the hearts of people, in the minds of his beloved. But while the world sits in silence pondering on the "why" question, let me tell you something only I know about.

In between the events that happened before his death, Adebisi was having an affair with Kofo. They were just casual friends but somehow he got her pregnant. And this grave mistake was going to cost him everything, his relationship with Morenike, his parents' trust and his image in school. Caught up in the heat and confusion of his situation and to cover up his sin,  he poisoned Kofo. Adebisi had killed both mother and child!  When it dawned on him that he had stained his hands with innocent blood,  that he had used an even greater sin to cover the other,  he decided to take his own life.  He had taken God's free gift from two innocent people, wasn't it only fair for him to hand his over?

Now that you know the truth,  what would you have done if you were in Adebisi's shoes?  Would you have also taken your own life? Would suicide have been your way out?

Suicide might seem like the quickest way out for a lot of people but it is only a way into an even thicker darkness.
Suicide might seem like a shortcut to Peace from overwhelming troubles, but it is only a ticket to an even greater trouble - Eternal damnation! If Adebisi had sought for mercy from the one who has all the answers, he would have been saved.

Suicide is never the answer and definitely never a way out. Life is a gift from God and you have no right to willfully throw it back in God's face..  You are looking for a way out?  Find God!
