A fellowship of love

A Fellowship of Love

Activities! ,activities!! activities!!!
Martha had just finished singing with the choir.
She had earlier  prayed with the Prayer group.
Then, she is to have an Exco meeting and also go on an outreach with the Evangelical group. Martha has to afterwards pen down a write up on "Acceptable Stewardship". She still has to help share fliers later.  This morning,  she had only enough time to say a hurried prayer and  now, Wole asked;
"Sister Martha, can you help me  decorate the Church?"
Of course one would expect this response
"Am I a machine that you'll just be pressing  to work!work!!work!!!" and this was exactly what Martha meant to say.
But instead she said, "Oh! Of course, I'll help Brother Wole"

Luke 10:40   "But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? Bid her therefore that she help me."
Luke 10:41   "And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things".
Luke  10:42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

Don't you think Martha should be tired at least. I think she should be.
Well, was Martha doing the wrong things? Certainly not ! But she was doing it the wrong way.
Martha had made a great blunder that we all sometimes make. That we aren't called to activities but a Fellowship of love With God.
Martha was giving out what she didn't have.
We see Jesus giving us the perfect example countless  times;Drawing out to receive from the Father.

Constantly dwelling in the presence of God. Tarrying in prayer because without receiving from God, you can't give to the people what God wants and how he wants it to be given.
We have been called into a fellowship and a relationship of love with God. A place where we give out of love and not forcefully or as commanders or as hypocrites .

1 Peter  5:2 "Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;  5:3 Neither as being Lords over God's heritage, but being examples to the flock

A relationship with God is amazing and that is what we were made for. Activities are wonderful,  as long as they are done from a point of love and willingness to the glory of God. When we fellowship with God he gives us the power and grace to do His will. When we do his will ,he reveals more of himself to us , causing us to grow in Him.

Let's constantly ask God to Help us serve him rightly, to cause our service to come from a point of joy and love in our hearts.
So, next time just before you jump on that wheel of activities, make sure you've fellowshipped with the Lover of your soul .The one you were made for.
1 Corinthians 13:1   "Though, I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
